Mixing

We shape your multitrack into a coherent mix that still makes sense on phone speakers, car systems and headphones — with clear revision rounds instead of black-box presets.

Mix engineer at workstation with monitors and patchbay.

Mixing is where separate takes become a song: vocals forward without losing the kick, bass sharing space with guitars, and effects that support the story instead of distracting. At Monogamyvault we work in a 24 m² control room with nearfields at ear height and a workflow that can stay in-the-box or touch outboard when it helps.

Send stems from your home studio or after tracking in our vocal booth or live room. We mix for indie artists, hip-hop producers, bands with live recordings and small labels that want a neutral second set of ears. File organisation is covered in delivering stems for mixing.

Process

  1. 01

    Stem check

We verify naming, start point, sample rate and headroom. Missing tracks or clipped sources get fixed before balance work starts.

  2. 02

    Rough balance

Static mix: levels, panning, EQ and bus routing. You receive a first bounce to check on phone, car and headphones.

  3. 03

    Detail and FX

Automation, reverbs, delays and dynamics tailored to the track. Vocal doubles, drum-bus compression and bass sidechain follow your genre.

  4. 04

    Revision and export

Up to 2 feedback rounds on agreed points, then final mix WAV and optional instrumental. Mastering is separate via mastering.

When hiring a mix makes sense

Home mixing works until room, monitors or time hit limits. A studio mix helps when bass response is inconsistent, when you are too close to the song to stay objective, or when a streaming deadline is fixed. We also mix hybrid projects — partly tracked here, partly elsewhere — as long as stems align on the timeline.

EPs and albums benefit from one engineer keeping tone and vocal levels consistent across songs. The up-to-six-tracks EP rate targets cohesive projects, not random single discounts. Scope questions? Request a quote with track list and references.

Technical delivery expectations

Supply 24-bit WAV stems, all from the same start point (bar 1), without a limiter on your export master bus. Vocals and drums may peak, but structural clipping in sources is not always recoverable cleanly. Include BPM, key and any tempo map in a plain text note.

  • One folder per song with clear track names (e.g. DRUM_Kick, VOX_Lead)
  • Processing can stay on — tell us what is printed
  • Reference track as WAV or streaming link for balance, optional
  • State desired length and fade if non-standard

Following delivering stems for mixing avoids most intake delays.

In-studio versus online mixing

The hourly rate €122 covers mix work while you listen in the control room — useful for real-time decisions on vocal level, snare compression or drop impact. Online per-track pricing (€210) suits creators who upload stems and leave feedback with timecodes or a short video call.

Both paths get the same attention to phase, stereo image and dynamics; the difference is communication and scheduling. Studio hours book within Mon–Fri 9:30–18:30, Sat 12–17; offline mixes run in blocks between sessions with turnaround confirmed at booking — often a few business days to about a week when busy, depending on length and stem count.

Genre and aesthetic

We mix pop, hip-hop, R&B, rock, electronic tracks with live elements and singer-songwriter material. Your references set direction: dry upfront rap vocal, wide indie guitars, punchy EDM kick — we do not paste one template on every song. We still watch kick-bass relationship and vocal intelligibility because streaming listeners notice those first.

Creative effects (phone vocal, reverse reverb, distorted drums) are agreed explicitly so they do not vanish in the first rough by accident. If you want to keep a chain from your demo, send a bounce; sometimes we print it, sometimes we rebuild in the studio for more headroom.

Revisions and limits

Each mix job includes 2 revision rounds on points you submit in writing (e.g. chorus vocal +1 dB, hi-hat softer). Listen as often as you like; we cap how many changes we execute per round so the project stays finite. Extra rounds or full remixes after new stems are quoted separately.

Revisions do not cover material you re-record at home after the final mix — that is a new job. See terms and conditions for cancellation, 35% deposit and B2B payment within 21 days.

Delivery and formats

Final mixes ship as 24-bit WAV at 48 kHz unless your project needs otherwise. MP3 for quick sharing on request — MP3 is not the archive master. Instrumental, TV mix or a cappella exports are possible when stems allow; say so at intake.

We keep mix sessions for 18 months internally, then delete project files unless you buy an extension. Always keep your own copies of sent stems and returned mixes. For loudness toward streaming, see loudness for streaming platforms; commercial release often continues with mastering after the mix.

Mix service rates

Prices include 21% VAT for consumers. Per-track pricing covers one song of normal length (roughly four to five minutes); unusually long pieces or scores are quoted separately. The EP package applies to up to six tracks from the same project at €985.

FAQ

How many stems can I send per song?

There is no hard cap if names are clear; most pop and hip-hop songs sit between twenty and forty stems. Very large sessions should be discussed upfront so turnaround stays realistic.

Do you mix in Dolby Atmos or stereo only?

We deliver stereo mixes for streaming and download by default. Immersive formats are outside the base rate; ask if you target a specific platform.

Can I send my own mix as a reference?

Yes — a rough mix shows what you want to keep. We treat it as direction, not a mandate to clone every flaw you already had.

What is the difference between mix and mastering?

Mix balances all stems into one song; mastering polishes the stereo master for distribution and loudness. Mix often leads to mastering; loudness for streaming platforms explains targets without promising platform behaviour.

How do I start a mix project?

Send track count, genre, deadline and a stem download link via contact. After price and schedule confirmation you receive payment and upload steps under terms and conditions.
